Bea started her professional career as a stand-up comedian in 2011, after playing a few small roles she played on Irish and British television dramas starting in 2009. Her parents were Brian O'Sullivan and Helen O'Sullivan and has a sister named Sinead. In 2012, she was the second woman ever to receive the So You Think You Are Funny Award. She uses the surnamed Bea in honor of her deceased father. Aisling O'Sullivan, whose real name is as Cliodhnadh Aisling, was born at Kildare town in County Kildare. Her father Brian was an equine veterinarian who died when Bea was just three years old though she was not told what happened to him until she reached the age of thirteen. The stage name she chose was Bea as a tribute to her father. She also published an article in The Guardian in 2017 about her family's experience of suicide. Bea (and her younger sister Sinead) were brought up within the home of Helen Moloney, a instructor and trainer of jockeys who was a professional jockey. Her family were fascinated by racing and horses. Bea started out as an official guide for tourists for the Irish National Stud. But she soon realized that her passion was for doing and not racing.
